Salves

I make few different types of salves, utilizing dried medicinal herbs from the farm infused in olive oil combined with candelilla wax (a piece of home).

I use candelilla wax because it is sustainable, effective, and inclusive.

Candelilla (Euphorbia antisyphilitica) is native to Texas, southern New Mexico, and Mexico. It is abundant and its harvest does not put it at risk of survival. It permeates our skin membrane in comparison to beeswax, which sits on top and can leave a sticky residue. Since candelilla is a shrub, its use makes the salves accessible for those seeking a plant-based skincare routine.

Medicinal plants that I incorporate in salve making include goldenrod, marigolds, chamomile, sage, tusli, yarrow, calendula, and comfrey. I dry these herbs after harvest and then infuse them in olive oil until it is time to make salves!
